Things you want to know

At Thinking Tools, we go beyond traditional teaching to help children build self-esteem and excel in math, step by step. Our creative, child-centered approach is designed to help your child improve their grades while gaining confidence in their abilities.

What Makes Thinking Tools Different?

1. Harnessing Natural Thinking Abilities:

Every child is born with powerful Thinking Tools. These tools help them naturally categorize information, recognize patterns, and solve problems. We teach children how to use these abilities to discover knowledge and gain insights in all their school subjects.

2. A Modern Approach for Today’s Learners:

Today’s children process information differently. They’re used to quickly finding answers online and thrive on curiosity-driven learning. At Thinking Tools, we embrace this by shifting the teacher’s role to that of a guide or “curator” (from the Latin word meaning “to care”), helping your child learn with purpose.

3. Scientifically Guided Thinking:

We help your child think critically and creatively, equipping them with "figure-it-out" skills. This isn’t just about math—it’s about developing problem-solving abilities for all subjects and life itself.

How Thinking Tools Improves Math Skills

Moving Beyond Memorization:

Many math lessons focus on teaching “recipes” or methods. While this works temporarily, the brain isn’t designed to simply memorize steps. Instead, we teach your child how to understand and solve problems independently.

Building a Strong Foundation:

If your child has missed key math building blocks, we identify and strengthen those areas. This solid foundation helps them not only catch up but also gain the confidence to excel.

Closing the Learning Gap:

Many children struggle because the gap between what they know and what they’re expected to learn is growing wider. Schools often lack the time and resources to address this. At Thinking Tools, we help your child bridge that gap and start building "THINK hours" right away—time spent actively learning to think critically.

Why Thinking Tools Works

  • Your Child Learns HOW to Learn:
  • Instead of following steps, your child learns to figure out solutions independently. This skill applies to all subjects, not just math.
  • Visible Progress, Better Grades:
  • As your child’s understanding grows, their progress becomes obvious—both in their grades and their confidence.
  • Support Across All Grades:
  • We offer math extra classes and Thinking Tools support for learners all the way through to Grade 12.

What are included

The grade 8 Thinking Tools course is a generic course which is applicable to all Grades and subjects.

Four figure-out maths classes per month (one per week) during school terms.

Support on a WhatsApp group for all subjects including maths.

The course consists of 3 x 3-hour sessions. The purpose of session 1 is to introduce your child to Thinking Tools to the extent that your child will be able to start applying the first sets of Thinking Maps when learning new chapters of so-called 'learning subjects' based on your specific curriculum.

1 x one-hour maths extra class on a weekly basis live with Zoom. All extra classes are recorded an availed on the course platform where each enrolled learner can attend to it at own time and pace.

During the sessions they put their noses to the grindstone and tackle all their subjects including languages. They learn how to write an essay to 80%+ and successfully completing a comprehension test the Thinking Tools way. The last session is spent on maths which is the beginning of a journey of mathematical thinking.

The aim of the course is not only to teach your child to think, but also to identify and solve new problems. In this way, your child not only becomes empowered to pass the grade, but to achieve life skills.
