Children are natural explorers, and their observations and intuitions about the world around them are the foundation for learning. Unfortunately, the ways children are taught have not always taken advantage of those attributes.
Some students who successfully complete school have not really had the chance to “do” in ways that harness their natural curiosity and understanding of the world around them.
...Students cannot master practices without opportunities to directly experience them. When students do practices, they don’t just learn facts and ideas; they learn to engage in complex scientific reasoning.
